We're a team of billers, engineers, and operations specialists who wake up every day thinking about one thing: making vaccine programs work for the practices that take care of our kids.
A family clinic in Virginia losing tens of thousands a year on vaccines. The practice manager staying late every week chasing denied claims. Doses expiring in the fridge because nobody had time to count. Sound familiar?
A pediatrician in Texas discovering her RCM company hadn't been collecting on Aetna for months. A practice in Florida spending 30 minutes a day on manual inventory counts. MAs burning out on lot-number entry instead of spending time with patients.
VFC coordinators wading through registry errors alone because no platform would touch it. Practice managers building spreadsheets to predict vaccine orders. Billing teams fighting the same insurance denials month after month.
And everywhere, the same realization: the independent pediatric practice, where most children actually get their care, had been left behind. Large hospitals have tech. Specialty clinics have tech. Pediatrics had spreadsheets and phone calls.
We started during COVID, helping practices manage the chaos of their vaccine programs. What we saw confirmed what we already suspected: it wasn't just COVID. The entire vaccine workflow was broken. Manual, expensive, and nobody was building a real solution for the practices that needed it most.
So we built one. What started as vaccine program support grew into an end-to-end platform: purchasing, inventory, scanning, safety alerts, VFC compliance, state registry reporting, and billing. And we built the team to back it up, because software alone wasn't going to cut it.
"We built Canid because we saw firsthand what vaccine management does to a practice. Software and service together, because you can't solve this problem with just one."

Built for pediatrics
A team singularly focused on making vaccine programs work for independent practices.
We built our software and our team together because the problem requires both. Every feature we ship, every claim we chase, every VFC reconciliation we run is done by people who understand what it feels like when a practice is underwater.
Large hospitals have technology. High-specialty practices have technology. But the independent pediatric practice, where most children actually get their care, was left behind.
Pediatrics revolves around well-child visits and preventative care. Vaccines are the backbone of the practice, happening dozens of times every single day.
No other specialty depends this heavily on vaccine revenue. A pediatrician administers more vaccines in a week than most adult providers do in a year. The financial stakes are massive, and the margins are razor-thin.
Parents make the decisions, ask the questions, and manage the insurance. Selective vaccine refusers, coverage lapses, and mid-month plan switches create operational complexity that other specialties simply don't face.
There's plenty of tech for large hospital systems and high-revenue specialties. What was missing was a team fully dedicated to solving the daily operational grind for independent pediatric practices. That's the gap Canid was built to fill.
We're both, by design. The platform automates scanning, inventory, ordering, reporting, and billing. And the Canid team handles the operational work that surrounds those systems. White glove means we partner tightly with every customer, every day.
Every practice runs differently. Private-only vs. mixed private and VFC. In-house billing vs. outsourced. Different EMRs, different state rules, different workflows. Canid configures to your operational reality rather than forcing rigid processes.
Our engineering team actively builds features that customers request. Consent forms? That was originally a customer request. Vaccine refusal documentation, ERA reconciliation, HEDIS outreach tools: all came from real conversations with real practices.
Patients never know Canid exists. No patient contact. No surprise bills. No confusing eligibility rules or new workflows that disrupt the visit. Even in complex scenarios, like selective vaccine refusers, out-of-network patients, or lapsed insurance, Canid handles everything behind the scenes so the practice never delivers a surprise vaccine bill.
Canid purchases vaccines upfront and has over $200 on the line per dose. If insurance doesn't pay, Canid absorbs the cost. When your typical RCM company loses $20 on a missed claim, they move on. Canid fights for every cent because we have real skin in the game.
Canid's team is distributed nationwide, with headquarters in Manhattan. Our team travels to practices for hands-on launches, and our customer success team works with practices across the country every single day.
We've been a consistent presence at PMI (Practice Management Institute) and AAP conferences for over three years running. PMI is particularly important to us because the attendees are true practice managers and owners who speak the same operational language we do.

I went through a different transition before and that was a total nightmare. This one was a whole lot smoother and easier for everyone to grasp.

Once we got the scanner, everything changed. Years of clicking through menus just disappeared. Scan, confirm, done.

We've never really run out of a vaccine since switching. The ordering just takes care of itself.
